I was recently in Berlin in December for work and my colleagues and I went out for a nice Christmas lunch. Emily, a native Berliner, ordered a fassbrause with much zeal and I was about to order one for myself when my friends warned me, “some people love it. Some people hate it.”
They explained further that it was a drink created in Berlin by a brewer to give his children something that looked like beer but was not alcoholic. It’s often made or stored in a keg, but tastes more like apples than beer to me.
I loved it!
